It all started when…

We met as kids in elementary school and did not get along. After we graduated high school we were reconnected through a mutual friend and became very quickly. We spent every day together and often had people ask us if we were married. It came to a head and I finally told him I liked him, and the rest was history.

After reconnecting, all of our friends used to tease us that we would get married one day and we would be embarrassed and deny that we even had feelings for each other. Looking back now, it blows my mind that they could all see how much we loved each other from day one. Even though it took us long enough to finally date and now get married, it was worth it because we are so great together.

The Proposal

He had all the family and my best friend come to the Amarillo Botanical gardens around Christmas. These were so many lights and it was so beautiful and he proposed in the middle of all the Christmas lights with our families. It was frigid cold, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

WHAT MOMENT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

I am the most excited for the first look as I walk down the aisle and then celebrating with all of our loved ones.

Why did you choose Twin Lakes?

It was the most down to earth and honest venue. I had attended a wedding here years ago and remembered it when we got engaged. After talking with Jane and taking a tour, I knew this would be the most magical place to get married.

Do you have any advice for future couples?

We planned from out of state and the best thing we did was to do a long engagement to help plan without being super stressful.

Do what you want to do. It's okay to listen to other people's advice, but don't feel obligated to take it or follow traditions. Break traditions and make your wedding all about you and your partner because that's what matters most.
