It all started when…

Berto and I met in junior high, but we didn't really pay any attention to each other until later in high school. We dated for a few months our junior year of high school, but I broke it off. We got back together during the summer between our junior and senior years and have been together ever since.

The Proposal

Berto proposed to me on Thanksgiving day in front of all our family! We went outside to take family pictures and he asked me to take a picture with just me and him. I thought it was odd he wanted one with just the two of us because we were wearing the same outfits we just had on when we took professional family pictures the weekend before. Little did I know he had the most beautiful ring in his pocket and he would get down on one knee and ask me to marry him-he didn't actually want more pictures with just the two of us!

WHAT MOMENT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

The moment I'm most looking forward to on our wedding day is just being able to step back and look at all of the people that are there to celebrate the two of us. Both sides of our family would have never met if it wasn't the two of us.

Why did you choose Twin Lakes?

We chose Twin Lakes because it's exactly what we had pictured in our head for our wedding day. Whenever we talked about where we wanted to get married and what we wanted the background of our pictures to be, it was exactly the view Twin Lakes had. I was amazed at how it was exactly what we wanted!

Do you have any advice for future couples?

One thing we wish we would have done is got Save the Dates sent out immediately after we secured our venue and the date. We didn't get Save the Dates sent out because we waited too long. So we only were able to send out invitations. Even if you haven't taken engagement pictures yet-choose a picture of the two of you that you love and get those Save the Dates sent out! Otherwise people will be bugging you about when and where the wedding is-especially if you have friends and family from out of town.

Something helpful that might make you feel better for your wedding is that I'm only having a Maid of Honor and a Bridesman (my brother) stand up with me while Berto has six groomsmen standing with him. I felt like I just had to choose random friends and family I knew to "fill the empty spots" on my side of the bridal party. I finally realized that I only wanted my best friend and my brother to stand with me. I didn't have to fill the empty spots just because. Only pick the people you really want to stand up with you. Don't feel like you have to pick people just to pick them.
