it all started when…

Daniel and Katharyn first met in 2016 at a Halloween party. Katharyn's coworker, and Daniel's best friend, brought them together at this party. Katharyn was dressed up as Minnie Mouse, while Daniel was dressed up as a baseball player. For the first few months on their friendship, Daniel and Katharyn and the mutual friend hung out together and were inseparable.

the proposal

Daniel was able to keep the proposal a huge secret for months before it happened! Daniel had everything planned out for this big day, from the custom engagement ring, to asking Katharyn's dad for permission, and finally letting Katharyn think the hiking trip was her own idea. On June 12th, 2022, Daniel, Katharyn, and some good friends and family all went hiking at Caprock Canyons. Katharyn had no clue what was about to happen that day, and was just excited to wear her new hiking socks on the trip. Daniel's brother, David, carried the ring for him. When they got to the part of the hike where Daniel asked Katharyn to be his girlfriend four years prior, Katharyn started setting up her phone to recreate the pictures from before. When Katharyn turned around, there Daniel was, on one knee, asking her to marry him. Katharyn was so shocked that she said YES! before Daniel had officially asked! To celebrate the big day, they all went back down the hike and to Amarillo to enjoy some Waffle House for breakfast.

We did everything together from going out to eat, going to the movies, and even going to Texas Tech sporting events together. As the friendship grew, so did the feelings for one another. Finally, on May 10th, 2017, Daniel and Katharyn went hiking in Caprock Canyons and it is then Daniel asked Katharyn to be his girlfriend.

what are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day?

Katharyn: I am most looking forward to the first look with Daniel. I can't wait to share that special moment with just us two!

Daniel: I'm excited to see all of our friends and family together in one place to celebrate Katharyn and I.

wedding theme/style

Our wedding is more of a color scheme than a theme. Our colors are peach and dusty blue, and a lot of our decor just follows the color scheme.

why did you choose twin lakes?

We chose Twin Lakes because we had heard nothing but good things about the venue. They were super upfront about pricing and availability of dates. After taking one tour, we were sold! It was the venue for us.
