THE LOVE STORY OF
NIKKI & CODY SMITH
SWEET SOUL COLLECTION
IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
Nikki was managing her family’s business, Spoil Me Rotten Party and Event Rentals, while Cody worked behind the scenes as a warehouse worker. A swim-and-movie night at Nikki’s place turned into something more when, during Boondock Saints, she stole a kiss—and sparked the beginning of something beautiful.
From casual lunch dates to deep conversations, their friendship blossomed into love. On July 24, 2018, Cody asked Nikki to be his girlfriend (the old-fashioned way), marking the start of their journey together.
THE PROPOSAL
In December 2024, came a surprise trip to Ruidoso for a much-needed Parents Getaway. Cody suggested a hike (which was suspicious, considering they are not a hiking couple). After driving up as far as they could, they trekked to the top of Monjeau Lookout. There, Cody set up his phone, found the perfect spot, and got down on one knee. With tears in her eyes and joy in her heart, Nikki said, “Yes.”
No relationship no matter the time together is perfect but we found that the little moments were what held us together and made our future bright. With each of us bringing past heart ache (Nikki being a divorcee and Cody having a long-term relationship), bring children into the mix (Nikki 1 Daughter and Cody 1 Daughter and 1 Son) and trying to find balance with it all, THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER! Do not take for granted the energy drink they buy just because they know you need it or the flowers just because.
WHAT MOMENT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?
The "I Do's". We are both so excited to be joined as one in Holy Matrimony and carry a life together as ONE! 7 1/2 years is long enough of a wait to finally be able to say I DO and know the rest of our life is finally starting as ONE.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TWIN LAKES?
The scenery matches our feel of life. The country western meets glam. We love the Pond and the open air with no city noise or distraction.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES:
As a wedding planner of 18 years, give yourself grace and time. Do not rush the planning, and make sure you do what you want. Do not plan based on anyone but your partner and yourself. It’s about you, and remember that this is your story, so make it yours! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY- Sometimes things fall apart, you forgot something, or something wasn’t just perfect, don’t let that stress you. Remember, it will be something you will look back and laugh about later. The most important part of the day is you and your spouse becoming one.
Enjoy every second of the planning and don’t let it stress you out. You are preparing for the first day of the rest of your life together as one. Stay on budget and make sacrifices on the things that are not must-haves. The little things we, the Bride and Groom, look at most are what others are least likely to see.
