It all started when…

We met in our senior year of high school when Derek moved schools. We became pretty close friends throughout the year. Once prom rolled around and I didn't have a date, I texted him one night asking if he would want to go as friends. He said that sounded like fun and we planned on going together, but we did not end up going as friends. A couple of weeks before prom, I was at his house getting help on homework. When he walked me out to my car to leave, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I excitedly said yes and proceeded to get lost on my way home (which was only down the street) due to the excitement.

We spent the majority of our 5-year relationship long-distance and it was far from easy. But as they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and we can attest to that. We have such a strong bond and unbreakable love for each other.

THE PROPOSAL
Fitting both of our introverted personalities, Derek asked me to marry him at my house after getting back from Easter with my family. Leading up to the moment he began to get very frustrated because I had no idea what was about to happen and I was running all over trying to get things done around the house and he "felt like he was wrangling a toddler". (He told me that after the fact of course). Once I finally slowed down long enough he popped the question, I said yes, and we celebrated with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

WHAT MOMENT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

I am most looking forward to getting to walk down the aisle toward the love of my life and finally saying I do! Derek says, "Kissing you for the first time as my wife".

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TWIN LAKES?
There were many things that we loved about Twin Lakes, such as the flexibility of different inclusions to best fit our budget, the look and vibe of the venue, and Jane's helpful, kind, and honest personality. But a big reason we chose this venue is because throughout the tour and after, it just felt right to both of us.
